Abstract

The aim of present study was to verify the etiology and prevalence of bovine mastitis in the Terezina, city. A total of 852 quarters from cows during avery lactating pe¬riod raised on 8 dairy farms in Terezina, Piauí, were exa¬mined. Out of 346 (41.10%) positive cows by CMT (+, ++ e +++). A total of 252 (72.83%) were confirmed though bacteriological methods. From the agents isolated in pure or mixed cultures, the Staphylococcus was most frequen¬tly observed (74.60%).
