Abstract

The objective of this study is to report the first occurrence of the parasitoid Gnathopleura quadridentata, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Monthly, ten samples of one-week old bovine dung were randomly collected in pastures and transported to a laboratory. The pupaes were extracted from those samples, five days after being collected. The samples were put in buckets filled with water, removed with the help of sieves and individually placed in gelatin capsules until the emergence of the parasitoids. Forty pupaes of Oxysarcodexia thornax (Walker) (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) were obtained, whereas four of them emerged parasitoids pertaining to the Gnathopleura quadridentata (Wharton) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) species. The observed parasitism was 10%.
